i did them once about 5 months ago and have been fiending to do it again. it's completely satisfying in a visceral sort of way and your hearing does improve a bit. if nothing else, the process sounds like ocean waves in your ear!
ummmm... these things have been proven so many times to be total bull and actually responsible for a lot of ear damage.
if you're a bit fan of the placebo effect you might like em, but aside from that...

They don't work. The stuff you see inside the cone is just the melted scunge from the "candle" itself- I was also terrfied my hair would catch on fire as big chunks of (occasionally still flaming) ash fell onto the shabby paper plate below. A visit to an ENT will *really* improve your hearing. They yanked a total CORK out of my earhole.
